Thanks to Milton and Catherine Hershey, Milton Hershey School (MHS) has positively changed the lives of lower income youth and their families for well over a century. MHS is now seeking a Manager of Media Relations to assist in expanding the public’s awareness of the Hersheys’ legacy and the amazing opportunities provided by the School to children from need.
-Provide a wide variety of media outlets with high quality, engaging, and relevant content so MHS information is shared with greater frequency and audience understanding is expanded.
-Identify new media outlets to communicate the inspiring story of MHS, its students, and staff
-Assist with efforts to share knowledge within the community of organizations providing similar services.
-Respond to media inquiries on a timely basis.
-Develop statements and gather information for Director of Marketing Communications.
-Collaborate extensively within the MHS Communications Team & the MHS community.Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or similar major.
-At least 5 years of experience with demonstrated success in Media Relations.
-Exceptional verbal, written, and platform communication skills.
-Website content management and writing skills.
-Exceptional editing skills. Layout and design skills a plus.
-Skilled in various communications technology including the ability to quickly interpret internet trending and outcomes data.
-Proficient with Microsoft applications, social media, and graphic design.
-Experience with television, internet, video, blogs, and photography a plus.
-Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
-Strong project management skills.
-Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence, and lead.
-Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are considered to be role models for students.
-Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students.
